Contemporary Kitchen - Newport

This Newport kitchens’ space was central to the way this family operates and interacts, so when tackling the layout of the kitchen for their home Art of Kitchens were  aware of the need to incorporate this aspect into the design.

As the kitchen was being built in a new home, we had full scope to use the space for maximum efficiency and effect. The house was architecturally designed with modern elements throughout, an abundance of natural light and open, airy living spaces. His goal was to ensure that the kitchen was a good fit in terms of style and ambience.

“I knew the space would be used for entertaining as well as family life,” explained David Bartlette. “And it was important that an office/study area be incorporated as well.”

With a focus on the dual nature of the kitchen, David has included a walk-in pantry that features an appliance area accessible from both within the preparation mess to be kept separate – particularly useful when entertaining – and ensures that users of the office/study section are not inconvenienced during meal preparation.

Of course, storage was a priority, with David utilising full-extension drawers throughout the Newport kitchen to provide easy access to crockery and other items. There is even space included next to the refrigerator for win storage.

In terms of colour, David has cleverly stuck to neutral tones that complement and blend in with the gorgeous bush setting that can be seen from the kitchen and main family/living space. Rather than make the kitchen a visual focus, it becomes the perfect backdrop for the stunning vista as well as blending in with the style of the rest of the home.

The office space was specifically positioned alongside the window to allow users to also enjoy the view.

“The contemporary design of the kitchen combines both form and functionality, integrating the space with the rest of the home,’” summarises David.
