MODERN KITCHEN – MANLY
This stunning Manly kitchen renovation not only improved functionality and workflow but completely re-imagined the layout and design of the space. The old parallel island bench has been rotated by 90 degrees and now sits perpendicular to the rear work space. This has created an entirely new personality for the space as well as takes advantage of the lovely views from the terrace beyond. The island is perfectly balanced to provide enough space to be functional, but not so large that it becomes an impediment to good visual flow.
Located in a seaside suburb, the main goals of this apartment renovation were to enhance the lifestyle of the owners as well as better represent the beauty of the natural environment, and creating a connection with nature. The owners wanted to be able to enjoy their surroundings while undertaking everyday living and relaxing.
Reflecting the stunning landscape of the exterior, the colour scheme is a lovely balance of Dulux Bottle Green in a satin polyurethane finish together with a Carrara honed marble island benchtop and splashback. For added functionality, a stainless-steel benchtop was chosen for the back run. This combination of natural stone with rich green tones complements the brightness of the stainless-steel elements perfectly and creates a visual aesthetic that is a perfect match for the surroundings.
The island bench is the central focus of the design, oriented to now allow the owners to fully enjoy the beautiful natural vista outside. A large overhang creates the perfect casual meals area with the added detail of the tiled surface giving a gorgeous retro vibe. The sleek finish is enhanced by minimal use of handles – only appearing on the integrated Fisher & Paykel fridge/freezer and the pantry.
